Our guiding principles reflect who we are, what we value, and what families can expect from the CHSA experience.

ROAR Expectations for Students
ROAR is CHSA’s shared framework for behavior, learning habits, and personal growth:
- R – Ready to learn
- O – Open to challenges
- A – Act safely and kindly
- R – Reflect and improve
ROAR helps students develop responsibility, resilience, and respect while creating a positive and supportive learning environment.
How Families Can Support ROAR at Home
Families play a powerful role in reinforcing ROAR beyond the school day. Here are simple ways to support these expectations at home:
- Ready to Learn: Help establish routines for sleep, organization, and learning time. Encourage your child to come prepared and curious.
- Open to Challenges: Celebrate effort, not just outcomes. Encourage your child to try, problem-solve, and learn from mistakes.
- Act Safely and Kindly: Model kindness, respectful communication, and empathy. Talk with your child about making safe and responsible choices.
- Reflect and Improve: Ask reflective questions such as, “What went well today?” or “What would you like to work on next time?”
When families and school share a common language and expectations, students feel supported and confident across settings.
